In the 19th century nearly 7 million Germans left their home country to live in the USA. The majority of them didn`t really go willingly, but they were forced by the circumstances in their surroundings. A lot of them lived in poverty or they had political or religious reasons which made them leave their homes. Full of hope for a better life they went to America or also to Australia. They left their country, their family and friends, started a new life, built up new families, relationships, homes. But in their memory the old home and family still existed and lived on. They gave these memories to their children and these children handed them down to their children, and so these memories sometimes are still alive...
